Brief / Challenge

We were asked to create a group exhibition experience that presented individual design works as part of a fictional alien world, framed as a museum-style installation. The project needed to:

  • Combine multiple individual works into one cohesive experience
  • Use at least two emerging technologies
  • Be functional during a live exhibition
  • Be delivered within a fixed timeframe

This required both technical experimentation and clear team coordination.

Approach - Production & Technology

I approached the project with a producer mindset, focusing on structure, communication, and delivery. In parallel, I explored Augmented Reality (AR) as a way to present digital designs in a physical space. Through research and testing, I saw AR as a practical tool for making the exhibition more interactive and accessible, rather than just visually impressive. The creatures shown in the accompanying image were designed in Blender.

My role as a Producer

Alongside my technical contribution, I acted as the producer for the group project. My responsibilities included:

  • Planning the project timeline and setting deadlines
  • Dividing tasks and coordinating responsibilities within the team
  • Organizing logistics, including securing workspaces
  • Keeping the team aligned and focused throughout the process
  • Supporting progress and resolving issues as they came up

This role helped the team stay organized and deliver the project on time.

Technical Contribution - AR Design Implementation

I was responsible for developing the AR component of the exhibition. After evaluating different tools, I chose:

  • Unity to build and control the AR experience
  • Meadow to distribute the experience through QR codes

This setup allowed visitors to access the AR content easily on their own devices. I followed a consistent workflow for each AR experience:

  • Structured assets into clear folders
  • Created prefabs and asset bundles in Unity
  • Integrated 3D models, audio, and animations
  • Published each experience through Meadow

Result - Live Exhibition & Working prototype

The final outcome was a fully functioning exhibition installation with interactive AR elements.

  • Visitors could access and explore designs through their phones
  • The team met all technical and presentation requirements
  • The project was delivered on time

The exhibition demonstrated how clear structure and coordination support creative and technical work.

This approach ensured consistency and reliability across all designs. The accompanying image shows the QR codes I created so visitors could access the AR interactions during the exhibition. Visitors need the Meadow app on their phones to use the QR codes.

Reflection & Learning

Through this project, I strengthened my ability to:

  • Coordinate teams and manage shared responsibilities
  • Learn and apply new technologies through hands-on testing
  • Balance creative exploration with practical delivery

This experience reinforced my interest in producer roles, where structure, people, and technology come together to support creative work.
